Jitender • India

Jitender is a very special, hard working child who is dedicated to changing the lives of the most vulnerable within his community.

Jitender lives in the slum colony of New Delhi, India, with his parents and 8 siblings. His father is a rickshaw puller and his mother a housewife raising 9 children. Life  has not been easy for this family living in poverty. The pressure of debt made it even more difficult to provide the fees necessary  for their children’s education. Living a life of poverty on the streets seemed to be the future for Jitender just like it was for his parents and their parents.

However, due to the love and support of his sponsor, Jitender was able to attend school. He is hard working in everything he does and took an early interest in studying History and Political Science. He is focused on preparing for Civil Services Entrance exams. He will complete his 12th grade in 2022, and wants to pursue a B.A. Hons from IGNOU or a university of repute. He will then step into the very important role, in India, as a social worker that betters the lives of children living on the streets who are most vulnerable to trafficking.
