Manish • India

For as long as he can remember, Manish was an outcast. Manish and his younger brother Abishek were orphaned and abandoned as young children. Alone, and seeking whatever help they could find, they ended up at a crowded public train station – an environment where traffickers lurk to exploit children, just like them. Thankfully, legal authorities found them first and brought these precious children to one of the orphanages in New Delhi, with which Matsiko partners.

As Manish became more and more comfortable in the orphanage, so did his confidence in school, especially his interest in math and science. Wanting to improve his confidence even more, Manish joined the Matsiko India Choir.

Manish and the children in the choir received praise and attention from officials, schools, entertainers, and even CEO’s of business. Encouraged by Matsiko’s message of hope and overcoming in life, Manish worked hard at school and flourished. Having an educational sponsor, Manish was encouraged that if he works hard, he too can achieve his greatest desires. Out of millions of aspiring students in India, Manish was the top high school student for his class and was awarded the honor personally from the governor of the state in India from which he was born!

Hello Mom Jennie and Don uncle. How are you doing? I hope you are all fine and healthy. I am also doing well. It has been a long time since I messaged you but I am really delighted to inform you that I have been awarded the Best Scholar for the Year 2020-2021 by the Governor of Haryana, my home state. I have achieved all this due to your blessings and continuous love and support. I will continue to work hard in my university studies, which begins from 1st October, 2021. I will make sure that I do well in future, and make you proud. May God bless you.

Lots of love and hugs,
Manish

Today, Manish is enrolled in university and is majoring in cyber security. Some day, he wants to be like his sponsor, and sponsor a Matsiko child too. Manish wants other children, who are struggling and forgotten, like he was, to have an opportunity to gain confidence and hope through an education.

Just as easily, the boys could have been sold on the streets and discarded when no longer needed, but because of sponsorship, they now have successful futures and Manish will certainly be able to join a high tech company after he graduates from university. Maybe someday he’ll start his own software company. All of this is possible because of the value Matsiko sponsorship places on the world’s most neglected children it serves.
